Frequently asked questions
Questions, answered
Seasons, privacy, pace and what to pack. If your question isn’t here, ask us on WhatsApp.
When is the best time to visit Sri Lanka?
Any time of year. The south and west coasts and the hill country are best from December to April, and the east coast from May to September. We'll match your dates to the sunniest route.
Are your tours private?
Yes. Every round tour and day tour is private, with your own vehicle and chauffeur guide, and runs on your dates.
Can I change a round tour?
Of course. Every itinerary can be tailored, whether that means an extra night, a different hotel or a new experience.
Can you arrange vegetarian, Jain or other dietary needs?
Yes. Just tell us when you enquire and we'll let every hotel and restaurant know.
How active are the tours?
Each tour shows its pace and activity level. Some days include climbs such as Sigiriya or Little Adam's Peak, and there's always an easier option.
Do you offer elephant rides?
No. We don't offer elephant rides or shows. We watch elephants in the wild at Udawalawe, Minneriya and Yala, and visit the Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home, where orphaned calves are raised and then returned to the wild. Some itineraries also visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage at feeding and bath time.
What should I wear at temples?
Cover your shoulders and knees, and be ready to remove shoes and hats at sacred sites. Light, breathable clothing works best.
Do I need a visa?
Most visitors need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) or visa before arrival. Rules can change, so please check the official Sri Lanka immigration website for your passport. We're happy to guide you. Official Sri Lanka ETA website.
